this sunday

this sunday i went back to the 1030 service at holy trinity. and i felt like i was part of body of believers. it was nice to be back. i hope to get acquainted more to the ppl at this church. for now it will be this church and sol cafe that is my christian community. it is still hard to get back edmonton japanese christian church. i don't when i'll come back but i'll try to join the sunday school.
the service is familiar that it's so easy to be complacent. anyways the choir was astounding as usual. the message got some points that i do need to reflect again. the reading for this sunday, blended into each other.
in the afternoon, i went to see a play. i enjoyed in some sense but was surprised by the sexual content. however one thing i got that was throughout directly and indirectly was about consumerism. our society is one that continues to consume. and i see it everyday as one who works in a restaurant. it is necessary to eat but do we really need the latest paul mccartney cd or the latest desperate housewives dvd. i realize the compultion. i need to look at my own self. anyways, i was turned off with the sexual content of this play however aside from it, it made some good points. the other drawback is if they are using juice for wine, why not use herbal cigarettes instead of real ones?
so after working the night and coming back to blog, i have to say, look to other's needs. do things not of selfish ambition but rather from the heart.

29 years ago today

this is the anniversy of the day i was born. the day that saw me. i am thankful to God for creating me. and i thank him for the life up to now. i don't feel old or don't know what i'm to feel.
before i reflect on my life up to now. i would like to share my thoughts on a jazz concert i heard on saturday night. the band was the satoko fuji four. made up of satoko on piano, her husband natsuki tamura on trumpet
mark dresser on bass and jim black on drum. it was an amazing set of just funkiness, coolness and plain weird. they kept playing each song continusly. and it was something different. the pianist would sometimes play inside the piano. the drummer just went wild. the trumpeter would sometimes play quietly.and the bassist would play with the bow. it would go from the chaotic to the mellow. the encore piece was just as crazy and weird. it was funny when the trumpeter started making noises into the mic. it was just fun and i wish to hear something like it again.
now back to my life. it's been down the celler, up to the penthouse, going in circle kind of life. it's been a good life. eventhough i'm not sure what i'm to do with it. i'm still single. haven't found anybody. however i'm poised to say God has been good to me. and i have seen God's hand all through my life. if it was not for God my life probably wouldn't be what it is. so i give my thanks to the one above. and also thanks to all the ppl i've come across in my life. you all know who you are, thank you. thank you. and i hope to have many good anniversy to my birthday.

tuesday to friday

this week at the restaurant tuesday was probably the slowest. wedenesday was just awful. we were to have chicken come in on tuesday. it did not. when it came on wednesday it was after 4:30. just after we opened. i was cutting chicken and cooking. it was awful. thursday was okay, it was quite busy but managable. although the liquor order that i ordered was mixed up with another restaurant. it eventually came on friday, sometime after 5pm. and friday which was yesterday, was one of the busiest i worked all year. it was a slow start but after 6 till 9, the order didn't stop. there was no stop in customers coming in. it was constant all night. one good news one of our sushi chef is back to work. after 2months absense he's back. and we're glad. the reason was not on the chef's fault. and we probably might not find out how and where he got sick. anyways it's good to have him back. today i will be at edmonton oiler's practise and work for awhile. then off to yardbird suite, to catch a japanese jazz pianist. shalom

taking action

yesterday i was at a gathering with other believers. the discussion was from matthew 25. for those with bible, it's good to read. for those without, there's online version of the bible. anyways, i want to focus on the goat and the sheep. they both go to the king. and anyways. what i want to say is. faith without action is nothing. as humans living, there is so much we need to do. feed the hungry, clothe the poor, visit the ppl in prison and so on. yes there are those activities that are hard to do. like visiting ppl in prison, ie doing prison ministry. for those who don't know what it is, email me and i'll explain.
so i was once again challenged to do something. with so much going on it's getting more and more difficult to just forget to help out. so i challege to everyone who reads this, to get out of their comfort zone and just start doing it. and to those christians prayfully ask God what it is you could do. if you are doing it, that's great and i hope you will continue doing it. this is more a note to myself as well to all. peace

edmonton and calgary

it has been a very long time. so much has happened, and i'm not right now going to write what's been going on. i'm rather going to write about, my trip to calgary. my friends and i went down to calgary. first place we visited was heritage park. we were worried about the weather. however, it all turned well. and we had a fun time walking and enjoying this historical park. getting to the park, my friend was surprised that calgary was a bustling city. a real city, she said. after checking in at the hostel. our next destination was to the utsuwa no yakata. a store that sells japanese plates, tea cups etc. from there we went to eat at my parent's friend's japanese restaurant. we got lost, actually i got the address wrong. and we ended on the wrong place. so we got a cab and got there. i realized that address in calgary runs on north and south. my friend was just amazed how calgary is a growing city. a city that is unlike edmonton. after eating at the restaurant which was quite busy when we got there. the food was delicious. and if anyone is in calgary, and would like to have good hot noodles or donburi, go to "shikiji". afterwards, we went to "drum and monkey" and "screwbottle bills"or something to it. then we headed back to the hostel.
next day was the main event of our trip. we went to the labour day classic, calgary vs. edmonton. (canadian football game) my friends had a blast. on the way there one mean looking girl, gave us a stare and said that edmonton would lose. she was wrong, calgary lost. and so the weather was nice. the game was evenly matched. and we came home satisfied. i'm glad my friend liked calgary. it's nice to go somewhere outside where you live. however for me, i like it here in edmonton.
